From the recording Show Me The Way

I resisted writing this song. Frankly, I was reluctant to write another "God" song. But, don't you know it? Sometimes it isn't up to me - actually most of the time it isn't up to me what I am going to write. I was feeling a bit indecisive about the next move in my life and felt it would be better to hand things over to a force greater than my decision-making abilities. So I asked to be "shown the way."

Lyrics

V1: Well I thought about it and I took it up with God
There's no doubt about it - a saint we know I'm not
But when time comes to decide
Whether to stay or run and hide
One thing I know is I want Him on my side
But how do I know it's God's will and not my own wish
If the answer's right before me and I make some sense of it
Will I get clear direction to a path that's better
Or pieces to a puzzle I need to put together

Cho: Show me the way, Lord, you want me to go
I will obey as long as I know
It's you speaking to me and not my own will
I promise to listen - to be still and know
You'll show me the way

V2: I'm only human - I want things to go my way
But when I start to stumble that's when I get down and pray
Give me a sign I can't mistake - I'll make you a promise I can't break
Don't let go of my hand till you're sure I understand
With you as my teacher, my mentor, my guide
Maybe I can let go of this inconvenient pride
And live life more fully, more compassionately
Treating others the way that I want to be

Cho:
